After a relatively short motorway (Autoroute) journey from Geneva airport, our route takes the shorter way through the Savoie town of Annecy.  Following a scenic route (during daylight) around the beautiful lake Lac d’Annecy, providing a magnificent view with a backdrop of mountains towering above the lake. 

Heading on to Albertville, the former host town to the 1992 Winter Olympics, via the D1508 and D1212. Taking the dual carriageway route national (N90) down the Tarentaise valley towards Moutiers. Here the traffic often slows dramatically being the main route into the Tarentaise and Three Valley ski domains.

Passing Moutiers the route turns eastward heading into the Haute Tarentaise valley. Continuing to follow the N90 through Saint Marcel and Aime passing through Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the final destination for the TGV snow train service.

After Bourg the route turns onto the D9o2 passing through the village of Seez and then Saint-Foy-Tarentaise.  The climb begins up the D902 reaching the D220 where the pace begins to slow a little along the mountain road towards the famous lac du Chevril and the impressive dam, diga di Tignes.

After a further 16km taking approximately about 40minutes climbing the winding road arriving at Val d’Isere.
