After a 1 hour motorway (A43 Autoroute) journey from Lyon St Expert airport to Chambery, the route by-passes the Savoie town of Chambery, commonly known as “The Heart of Savoie” then following a scenic route (during daylight) via motorway down the valley with the dramatic mountains of the Réserve National de Chasse des Bauges on your left as the route follows the “Combe de Savoie” range of mountains heading toward Albertville, the former host town to the 1992 Winter Olympics. Then heading past Albertville taking route national N90 towards Moutieres, where often the traffic slows dramatically as this is the main route into the Tarentaise and Three Valley regions. On passing Moutieres the route then begins the climb up the mountain road to the Courchevel resort villages which normally takes around 30 minutes.
